Why buy Jamaican Jerk Seasoning Blends when you probably have all the ingredients in your spice cupboard already? Save cash and make it at home! This homemade spice blend is quick and easy to make and customizable, too.
Heat Level: You can adjust the amount of Scotch bonnet pepper powder to increase or decrease the heat level for this Jamaican seasoning. You can also replace it with two teaspoons of cayenne if you like it milder. If you really love a a hot spice blend, add more spicy flavor with one of the hotter chili peppers like a ghost pepper, or reaper. (These are really, really hot, so don't say I didn't warn you!)
Storage: Store your homemade spice rub in an airtight container like a glass jar with a lid, in a cool dark place, like your pantry. If it's properly stored and fresh spices were used as ingredients, it should keep for up to a year. Once you notice the flavors have dulled, it's time to make a new batch!
